The Israel National Database for Academic Research and Development (INDARD)

"An encyclopedic picture of academic research in Israel." The site, set up by the Forum of University Research Authority Directors and the Ministry of Science, features a searchable database of research projects.


Israel Research and Development (ISRAD)

This site, which is under development, will incorporate the INDARD database, and promises additional features, such as: a discussion group on grant proposal development; a digital library covering such matters as regulations, standards and policies governing R&D in Israel; listings of local and global scientific conferences.

Information on Israeli research on life sciences in space, in cooperation with other local and foreign agencies. The site includes an impressive list of space related links.


The Ministry of Science, Culture and Sport
Buried in the site is detailed information about calls for research proposals, researcher exchange programs, workshops, seminars and conferences, and other activities. Ministry publications are listed, and some can be downloaded. The list includes "From Planning to Action", subtitled 'National Initiatives for Developing Scientific and Technological Infrastructures', which gives, inter alia, an overview of Israel's international scientific relations.

Membership in International scientific organizationsis a government sponsored site that gives details of Israel's participation in a variety offields.

USA

The BIRD-F fund promotes R&D cooperation between Israeli and US companies. "Any pair of companies, one from each country, may jointly apply for BIRD support, if between them they have the capability and infrastructure to define, develop, manufacture, sell and support an innovative product based on industrial R&D."

The Commission stems from an agreement between US President Clinton and the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin to set up a body "to enhance cooperation and create technology based jobs".

USISTF is a non-government organization charged with managing and carrying out strategic programs developed by the United States-Israel Science and Technology Commission. It manages the Technology Excellence Fellowship (TEF) Program

"The US- Israel Biotech Council (USIBC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting strategic alliances between growing North American and Israeli Life Sciences industries, through networking, information exchange, and public policy initiatives."

CIIRDF is run on similar lines to the BIRD fund.


Europe

EU Commission for Research The Commission is responsible for the EU Sixth European Framework Programme for Research (2002-2006), in which Israel is a participating member. ISERD (see below) and MATIMOP (see above) provide services for Israeli companies, institutes and organizations interested in participating in the Framework Programmes.


ISERD
Israeli Directorate for the EU Framework Programme is an Israeli government sponsored body that promotes the participation of Israeli companies and research institutions in the EU Framework Programme. It provides guidance on submitting project proposals to the Sixth Framework Programme.


CORDIS
The Community Research and Development Information Service "provides information on a vast range of research, development and innovation activities undertaken on a European level." Includes information on the Fifth Framework Programme.

Eureka

Israel has a special relationship with Eureka, an organisation which "promotes pan-European, market-oriented research and development." The site includes a project database and a matchmaking facility.

Koril-RDF provides financial and other support for joint R&D projects by Israeli and Korean high-tech companies.

The SIIRD (Singapore-Israel Industrial R&D Foundation) agreement with Singapore promotes R&D cooperation between Israeli and Singapore companies.
