The top of the Hiriya garbage mountain will provide a panoramic view of Tel Aviv.
The Tel Aviv Regional Planning and Building Board has approved for deposit a plan for rehabilitating the Hiriya garbage dump. The plan aims at rehabilitating the Hiriya’s environment and vistas to turn it into the heart of the Ayalon Park for the residents of metropolitan Tel Aviv.
The Hiriya Plan was designed by landscape architect Peter Latz, who won an international competition for the project. Under the plan, the Ayalon River and Shapirim River will be diverted to enable a safe and stable rehabilitation of the garbage mountain. There will public parking for visitors to the Ayalon Park, providing access from the outset of its development.
The Hiriya plan will provide public access paths for climbing the garbage mountain. The paths will cross the rivers surrounding the Hiriya garbage mountain, the top of which will provide a panoramic view of Tel Aviv.
