Tnuva privatization will be delayed until at least June 2006

Tnuva’s management today approved a steering committee to achieve a consensus on Tnuva’s future and privatization.

Yesterday, the management of agricultural marketing cooperative Tnuva approved the appointment of a steering committee to achieve a consensus on Tnuva’s future and privatization. An external party will head the committee.

Tnuva said that the enterprise would hold a general meeting to approve its privatization no later than June 2006. The announcement means that Tnuva’s privatization will be delayed until at least that time.

Leaders of Israel’s kibbutz (collective settlement) and moshavim (cooperative settlement) movements and regional enterprise managers proposed setting up the committee. The proposal followed a meeting last week between the leaders and managers and Tnuva’s senior management: CEO Arik Raichman, chairman Naftali Ben Sira, and council chairman Asi Rubin.
