Police: The perpetrators probably did not know that they had broken into Netanyahu’s car. This is a serious security breach.
In a serious security breach, on Saturday night, unknown persons broke into the car of former prime minister and finance minister MK Benjamin Netanyahu, while it was parked in downtown Tel Aviv. The car was parked on Hashmona’im St. while Netanyahu was meeting adman Gil Samsonov.
Netanyahu’s security detail, members of the Knesset guard, accompanied Netanyahu and did not leave anyone to guard the car.
Israel Police Yarkon District are investigating the incident, but no witnesses to the break-in have been found yet. Police sources say that the perpetrators probably did not know that they had broken into Netanyahu’s car, because several cars had been broken into in the area last night.
The police sources, added, however, that this was a serious security breach, since even if criminals were responsible this time, a perpetrator could have planted a bomb in the car.
