The average shekel-dollar exchange rate rose by 0.1% in 2005, compared with 2004. The average shekel-euro exchange rate was up 0.2%, according to exchange rate figures published by the Central Bureau of Statistics.
On the other hand, the average shekel-Japanese yen exchange rate fell by 1.6% in 2005, the average shekel-pound sterling rate by 0.5%, and the average shekel-Swiss franc rate by 0.1%.
The average shekel-dollar exchange rate in 2005 was NIS 4.4878/$, compared with NIS 4.4820/$ in 2004. The average shekel-euro rate rose from NIS 5.5694/€ in 2004 to NIS 5.5830/€ in 2005.
The average shekel-pound sterling exchange rate fell from NIS 8.2053/£ in 2004 to NIS 8.1625/£ in 2005, and the average shekel-Japanese yen exchange rate fell from NIS 4.1145/100Ұ in 2004 to NIS 4.0785/Ұ in 2005.
The average dollar-euro exchange rate rose 0.1% in 2005, after jumping 10.8% in 2004. The average dollar-pound sterling exchange rate fell by 0.7%, the average dollar-Swiss franc exchange rate by 0.2%, and the average dollar-Japanese yen exchange rate by 1.7% in 2005.
The average shekel exchange rates fell against all the major currencies in December 2005: by 1.9% against the dollar, 1.3% against the euro and the pound sterling, 1.5% against the Swiss franc, and 2% against the Japanese yen. The average shekel-Jordanian dinar exchange rate also fell by 1.9% in December.
