Colmobil benefits from IDF deliveries in January

The car importer delivered hundreds of Hyundai Getz and Mitsubishi Lancers to the IDF as part of a military contract.

14,040 vehicles were delivered in January 2006, 27% more than in January 2005, because companies and individuals postponed purchases until after the stamp tax was abolished on January 1, and new strategic leasing contracts, including with the Ministry of Defense and Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd. (IAI) came into effect.

Hyundai was the top selling brand in January, with 2,424 deliveries, followed by Mazda 1,711; Toyota 1,432, Chevrolet 1,120, and Ford 703.

A breakdown of deliveries in January by agencies showed Colmobil-Colmotor Ltd. led by a wide margin, with 3,191 deliveries, 65% more than in January 2005, thanks to the delivery of hundreds of Hyundai Getz and Mitsubishi Lancers to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), in the first stage of a military contract.

Delek Motors Ltd. was in second place with 2,414 deliveries, up 10%; Union Motors Ltd. was in third place, with 1,432 deliveries, down 8%; Universal Motors Israel Ltd. (UMI) was in fourth place, with 1,267 deliveries; and David Lubinsky Ltd. was in fifth place, with 1,107 deliveries.
