Blumenthal en route to prison

MK Naomi Blumenthal (Likud) was sentenced to 8 months in prison and a NIS 75,000 fine.

The Tel Aviv Magistrates Court has sentenced MK Naomi Blumenthal (Likud) to eight months in prison, ten months probation, and a fine of NIS 75,000. She was convicted of election bribery, suborning witnesses, and obstruction of justice.

After the verdict, Blumenthal said, “With all due respect to the court, I will fight for my innocence with an appeal.”

The indictment against Blumenthal stated that she financed accommodations for Likud central committee members at the Sheraton City Tower Hotel Ramat Gan ahead of the Likud primaries, in order to promote her candidacy to serve in the 16th Knesset. The indictment said Blumenthal’s co-defendant, Likud central committee member Michael Elnekaveh reserved 15 rooms at the hotel for NIS 12,000, which Blumenthal paid for.
