Soltam Systems Ltd. will export $10 million worth of its Autonomous Truck Mounted Ordnance System (ATMOS) to an African country. Delivery of the first artillery battery will be made by year-end.
Soltam Systems president Moshe Charash said the ATMOS would spearhead the client’s artillery forces, multiplying their current firepower capability.
The ATMOS is a155-mm self-contained self-propelled artillery system with a range of 40 km. It uses NATO standard ammunition. ATMOS is mounted on a 6x6 truck, with an armored crew cabin, munitions holders, shell-loading system, and hydraulic operating systems for both the gun and vehicle. Firing is carried out from the truck, which was converted to fire support roles. The ATMOS is a fast moving self-propelled system that does not need transporters. It can respond quickly, fire with great precision, and use all type of 155 mm ammunition.
Soltam develops an manufactures advanced artillery systems, integrated mortar systems, munitions, and peripheral equipment. The systems use computerized firing and navigation systems for fully automated operation on the battlefield.
