Bet Shemesh Engines plans to fire 10

The company’s workers committee has notified management that it opposes the lay-offs.

Bet Shemesh Engines Ltd. (TASE: BSEN) has notified the company’s workers committee that it plans to fire ten employees currently working on various projects for the Israel Air Force (IAF). The move comes after the Ministry of Defense informed the company of its projected work plans for the year.

Bet Shemesh Engines has a special unit responsible for working with the Ministry of Defense and IAF, with 75 employees. The company’s work for the IAF has been shrinking in recent years. Bet Shemesh Engines has 400 employees altogether.

The company’s workers committee has notified management that it opposes the lay-offs, and has asked Minister of Defense Shaul Mofaz to intervene, in order to avoid a deterioration in the company’s labor relations. Bet Shemesh Engines has enjoyed industrial quiet since it was privatized 14 years ago.
