Amdocs signs cooperation agreement with UK’s Cramer

The two companies will provide a joint OSS solution.

Billing giant Amdocs Ltd. (NYSE: DOX), a provider of solutions for integrating communications subscribers, has signed a cooperation agreement with British operational support system (OSS) software provider Cramer, to supply a joint OSS product. The agreement expands the existing collaboration between the two companies. Amdocs and Cramer will integrate their OSS systems into a unified platform.

The integrated solution will combine the Cramer6 OSS Suite with Amdocs’s ordering and service management solutions. The combined product will link front-office customer management and back-office network and service management, unifying service ordering, provisioning, activation and assurance across all products and lines of business. Linking subscriber management systems with an operator’s network management systems is designed to ensure service and provide end-to-end fulfillment processes, in order to streamline communications operators’ work.

Amdocs Management executive VP Eli Gelman said, “Combining Amdocs and Cramer’s systems will improve customer loyalty.”

Over the coming years, the bulk of operators’ capital expenditures are expected to switch to OSS software, which are therefore expected to become a key growth engine for companies like Amdocs.

Gelman once said, “The provisioning, inventory management, service quality management and other markets are important growth opportunities for Amdocs.”

Amdocs now has an OSS division that has developed a number of systems, including for orders management, provisioning (systems that update profiles of each new user of an operator’s system), and activation (which enable a user to obtain authorization and access to services).

Amdocs nevertheless still lacks critical OSS systems, beginning with network resources management (NRM) and inventory management systems. Cramer has developed these systems, and has the largest market share in this area. NRM systems examine an operator’s resources and optimize the network.
