The Manufacturers Association of Israel predicts that Israel’s air conditioner exports will rise 10% in 2006. Deliveries will reach as far as Siberia this year.
The Manufacturers Association predicts that air conditioner exports will reach $90 million, and that domestic sales will rise 5% to 120,000 units for a total of NIS 380 million.
Metal and Electrical Industries Association chairman Yair Weinberger, who is also president of Electrotherm Ltd., predicts that air conditioner exports will grow this summer. Exports to Western and Eastern Europe are expected to reach $56 million, and exports to Africa, Australia, Mexico and South America, and, as mentioned, Siberia, are expected to reach $24 million.
The Manufacturers Association predicts that domestic sales in July-August will increase 5% in quantitative terms and 10% in financial terms, because new air conditioners are both more efficient and more expensive.
Since April 1, 2006, only air conditioners using environmentally friendly gas may be sold in Israel. Industry sources say this new regulation is expected to boost prices by an average of 10%. The average price of an air conditioner in Israel will be NIS 3,000, with prices ranging from NIS 2,000 to NIS 8,000 per unit.
