Judaica artist Yair Emanuel compensated for forgeries

He will receive NIS 140,000 from Karashi International for violation of intellectual property rights.

The Jerusalem District Court has ruled that Judaica artist Yair Emanuel will receive NIS 140,000 in financial compensation from Karashi International Ltd. for violation of intellectual property rights.

The compensation ruling followed a settlement between the parties, which left the amount of compensation to be determined by the court. Emanuel claimed that Karashi, owned by Yoram Karashi, head of the Likud faction on the Jerusalem city, copied and forged his Judaica pieces.

During the trial, the parties reached a settlement, under which Karashi undertook not to produce or market 27 items suspected as violating Emanuel’s intellectual property rights. The parties also agreed that Karashi would be allowed to collect all items seized under a court order, and sell them by the end of next year.
