The building served as the office of Prime Minister David Ben Gurion in 1948.
Businessman Shmuel Flatto-Sharon is negotiating to buy Ben Gurion House at 5 Zar Street, Ramat Gan. He visited the property on Thursday and made a formal offer $1.2 million to the owner. The 70-year old building is not slated for preservation, and Flatto-Sharon plans to demolish it and build 7-10 apartments on the site. Another party has also bid for the property, and pricing may take place.
The building served as the office of Prime Minister David Ben Gurion during Israel’s War of Independence in 1948. The 270-sq.m. six-bedroom two-storey house is located on a 1.37-dunam (3.4-acre) lot with a garden with fruit trees.
Under the Urban Building Plan, the building can be demolished and seven apartments with 1,400 sq.m. aggregate space built on the site. Flatto-Sharon plans to apply to build ten apartments with the same aggregate space. He estimates that he will invest $2 million in the property, and that the proceeds from the sales will total $4 million.
