Zilberstein, Sheves campaign for Austrian winning party

Tal Zilberstein and Shimon Sheves managed the campaign of the Social Democrats, which won Sunday's general election.

Israeli consultants Tal Zilberstein and Shimon Sheves were behind the successful election campaign of Austria’s Social Democrat party headed by Alfred Gusenbauer. Following their election victory on Sunday, the Social Democrats are now likely to be asked by the state president to form a new government, after eight years in opposition.

This is the second time that Zilberstein and Sheves have acted as consultants to Gusenbauer and the Social Democrats. On the previous occasion the party lost the election, in which Gusenbauer also challenged the incumbent Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel. Zilberstein and Sheves have been advising Gusenbauer for more than more than six months, during the latest crisis-ridden campaign. One such crisis came several months ago with the collapse of a bank associated with trade unions affiliated with the Social Democrats, after a series of risky investments in arms.

GCS Issue Management Ltd., which managed the Social Democrats’ election campaign in Austria is jointly owned by Zilberstein, Sheves, and a group of US consultants. It has previously managed political campaigns and provided political consultancy services in various countries such as Romania, where it advised former President Adrien Nastase and the Social Democratic Party of Romania, and Bulgaria, where it advised the current Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev. It has also provided strategic consulting to former Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Medgyessy. GCS has also a number of business clients in Israel, among them the forum of cellular companies, Mizrahi Tefahot Bank (TASE:MZTF), Barak 013, and others.
