Rafael Armament Development Authority Ltd. has unveiled the Samson Junior Remote Controlled Weapon Station (RCWS), a new model of the company’s remote controlled light arms systems. The Samson can acquire targets, aim and direct fire without exposing the troops inside vehicles.
The RCWS is equipped with television monitors, capable of operating both day and night and in severe weather conditions. The Samson Junior uses 7.62mm and 5.56mm machine guns.
Rafael Systems and Communications and Control Division director Dr. Udi Netzer said, “The Samson Junior is an additional weapons station in the RCWS family, which enables us to offer a wide range of stations for different types of vehicles.”
The Samson Junior is a new addition to Rafael’s family of RCWS systems designed for armored vehicles, ships and observation posts. The stations use a wide range of light arms. Rafael has already sold over 1,000 RCWS systems, which are in use with the IDF and the militaries of the US, UK, Canada, Australia and other countries.
The IDF is now testing the Samson Junior, and Rafael has submitted it in two international tenders for light arms stations of up to 100 kg.
