Google opens second Israel R&D center

Prof. Yossi Matias of Tel Aviv University will head the new center.

Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) has announced the opening of its second R&D center in Israel. The company’s existing center is in Haifa while the new one will be located in Tel Aviv. Google has appointed Prof. Yossi Matias of the School of Computer Science at Tel Aviv University and an expert in algorithms, data bases and Internet technology, as head of the new center.

The new center is the latest addition to Google’s global network of R&D centers. The company also has centers in Tokyo, Zurich, Bangalore, Beijing, New York, Kirkland in Washington State, and Santa Monica and Mountain View in California.
