US co Informatica to buy Itemfield for $50m

Itemfield, founded in 2000, provides software for complex data transformation.

US data integration solutions company Informatica Corporation (Nasdaq:INFA) will acquire Israeli start-up Itemfield Inc. for $50 million. The acquisition is expected to be closed soon. It is Informatica’s first acquisition in Israel. Itemfield has raised $19 million in two financing rounds.

Itemfield, founded in 2000, provides next-generation software for complex data transformation. The company’s product, ContentMaster automates complex data transformation in enterprise information systems.

Itemfield’s investors include Iscar Enterprises president Eitan Wertheimer’s Microdent Ventures Ltd., which invested in the company at the seed stage; Fourteam, which invested in the second financing round; Accel Partners, Gemini Israel Funds, Evergreen Venture Partners and eXseed. The company president and CEO is Dan Carmel, and it has 70 employees. IVC Online says that the company had $5 million in sales in 2005.
