State Comptroller: There is too much corruption today, with more problems and increasing attempts to hide them.
State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss told the Knesset Finance Committee this morning that he would be hiring 55 additional employees. “I am working on a number of hair rising issues,” he said.
The state comptroller added that there was too much corruption today, with more problems and increasing attempts to hide them.
“People are trying to stop the state comptroller from getting into the thick of things. We are living in a different era today, to that of a decade ago. We have to bring the state comptroller’s work up-to-date with present day exigencies, and counteract the pressure that witnesses are being subjected to. Those who seek to intimidate witnesses are now using public relations agencies and other means to get them to withdraw their testimony. We need to compile our reports under real-time conditions,” said Lindenstrauss.
The state comptroller quoted the public inquiries into the second Lebanon war, as an example that illustrated his claim. “Are we going to postpone publication of the findings for three more years?” he asked.
