Some lower ranking officers even receive income supplements.
Figures presented to the defense budget committee today indicate that the monthly wage of a major general is NIS 45,000. The big shock however was the fact that 40% of IDF regular officers earn less than the average wage, and some lower ranking officers even receive income supplements.
It became apparent that the military top brass is mostly concerned with the higher ranks, from major and up. The wage of a captain with 6-7 years of service is NIS 11,000 per month. The big jump begins when they reach the rank of major and receive NIS 15-16,000 per month. The wage of a lieutenant colonel is NIS 20,000.
