Database protection co Sentrigo raises $3.5m

Benchmark Capital made the investment.

Enterprise database protection start-up Sentrigo Ltd. has raised $3.5 million from Benchmark Capital in its first financing round.

The company was founded in 2005 as Monolight, but changed its activity and name a few months ago. Sentrigo CEO Nathan Shuchami previously served as VP sales at Blue Security and CTO and VP R&D Slavik Markovich previously served as VP R&D at DB@net.

Sentrigo’s solution is designed to protect databases from hostile hacking. The product monitors all activity in an enterprise database, including by authorized users, and verifies that the traffic confirms to regulatory requirements. In this way, the solution can protect against hacking originating from within an enterprise, which surveys suggest is responsible for two-thirds of attacks on enterprise databases.

Sentrigo has 15 employees at its development center in Kfar Saba.
