Juniper Networks expands Israel R&D center

Juniper is hiring 25 engineers, with more hirings planned soon.

US network communication equipment giant Juniper Networks will expand its R&D center in Israel. Juniper Networks VP of Operations for EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) Gert-Jan Schenk told "Globes," "we are currently hiring 25 additional engineers for our R&D center as part of our expansion in Israel. We intend to hire additional employees in the near future." Schenk arrived in Israel this week in order to coordinate the expansion of local activity.

Juniper's Israel R&D facility, located in Herzlyia Pituah, is based on the Israeli start-up Kagoor, which it acquired in 2005 for $70 million. Kagoor developed VoIP SBC (session border control) related technology which aids in securing VoIP activity. A year ago, development of the latest version of the SBC product was completed and the company downsized 15 of the employees involved.

The company is now increasing its workforce in order to integrate the Kagoor products with Juniper routers and it expects to employ about 100 people. "For us, the Israel R&D center is a key part of the company's strategy. We see Israel as a very important market for us," said Schenk. "We are always seeking innovation and opportunity and we will continue searching, mainly here."
