The new plan does not include the Safdie Plan or the ring roads.
The National Planning and Building Council has approved the Regional Outline Plan for Jerusalem. The plan assumes that Jerusalem will have 950,000 residents in 2020.
The new plan does not include the Safdie Plan, which was rejected earlier, or the southern and western ring roads. The Planning Council will continue to examine whether these roads are needed. The plan also rejected the construction of hotels in the metropolitan park. Har Eitan will become a national park, and an effort will be made to enhance green spaces in the district.
The outline plan aims to secure prosperity for the Jerusalem district and its residents, preserving the area’s unique natural environment and building heritage, and ensuring continued sustainable development for the next generations.
