Shari Arison appoints Housing & Construction chairperson

Housing and Construction and Elad Properties set up $100 million joint venture in India.

Shari Arison has appointed Ravit Bar-Niv as chairperson of Housing and Construction Holding Co. Ltd. (Shikun u'Binui) (TASE: HUCN), replacing Uzi Vardy- Zer, who served 20 years in the post.

When Vardy-Zer announced his retirement, he said, “The decision to leave is not limited to a precise date, enabling Arison Holdings to recommend a new chairman shortly.”

Bar-Niv, 43, was until recently CEO of NetVision Ltd. (TASE: NTSN), a subsidiary of IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. (TASE:IDBH). She unexpectedly resigned from the company on March 8. “Globes” reported that she obtained a compensation package of NIS 21.4 million for her five years as CEO.

Arison Holdings Ltd. is the controlling shareholder in Housing and Construction, which owns, among other companies, Solel Boneh Building and Infrastructure Ltd. and its subsidiary Solel Boneh International Ltd.

In a separate development, Housing and Construction announced that it would join forces with Elad Properties Ltd., Yitzhak Tshuva’s private real estate company, in a $100 million joint venture in India. The two companies will own equal shares in the venture.
