Bezeq Int’l: HOT lawsuit borders on libel

HOT: Bezeq International ought to examine itself. Complaints will also be filed with the police.

Bezeq The Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) subsidiary Bezeq International Ltd. is not taking silently the civil suit filed against it by Hot Cable Systems Media Ltd. (TASE: HOT) for industrial espionage. Bezeq International today said the lawsuit bordered on libel.

Bezeq International said, “We are considering taking legal action against HOT and its CEO for the baseless accusations made in their lawsuit.” The company also questioned the timing of HOT’s action, and the way it has handled the affair in the media, “which leave no room for doubt regarding its purpose: to undermine the image of Bezeq International, and especially the image of general manager Avi Gabai on the eve of his appointment to acting CEO of Bezeq.”

Avi Gabai also claims that HOT’s accusations against it are “baseless, demagogic, and infuriating. Bezeq International rejects these groundless accusations and a perverse attempt by HOT in this lawsuit and in its press statement as if we acted deliberately and systematically to illegally obtain information belonging to HOT.”

HOT said in response, “After ignoring our approaches in this matter, and after the presentation of serious evidence, Bezeq International ought to examine itself and isolate the phenomenon. We are continuing to fund additional evidence, which will be submitted to the court. Complaints will also be filed with the police.”
