Health Ministry: Fake Dimitone of Teva sold to pharmacies

Patients with Dimitone 6.25-mg, batch number 504038, should replace it with another batch number.

The Ministry of Health says that it has found isolated boxes of counterfeit Dimitone, made by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: TEVA; TASE: TEVA), for the treatment of irregular heartbeat. The ministry said counterfeit packets were for 6.25 mg and carried the batch number 504038, valid through February 2008.

The Ministry of Health called on patients using this serial number of Dimitone - and only this batch number - to go to the pharmacy where they bought it and replace the packet with another batch number. The ministry is concerned that the drug might be counterfeit, and pose a health risk.

Teva has set up a public information center with the Ministry of Health: 09-863999.
