3Com Israel completes project for Turkey’s Defense Ministry

The project included installing a regional network, upgrading the wireless network, and integrating advanced switches at the ministry’s headquarters.

3Com Israel Ltd. has completed a $2.5 million computerization project for Turkey’s Ministry of Defense. The project included the installation of a regional network linking the ministry’s 450 offices via routers, which provide secure high-speed access; upgrading the wireless network at 680 sites; and integrating advanced switches, designed for large enterprises, at the ministry’s headquarters.

3Com Israel, Middle East and Eastern Europe general manager Shimon Amouyal said that this was one of the company’s largest projects executed in the past year. He hopes that it will be a breakthrough for the company in the Turkish market. 3Com has won several computerization projects for Turkish public agencies and institutions in recent months, including public transport companies in Istanbul, a regional hospital in Izmir, universities, and television networks. These projects have paved the way for project with government ministries.
