Meytav Technological Enterprises Innovation Center Ltd. portfolio company SpearCast Ltd., has signed agreements with a number of leading local search engines in the US, which will incorporate a beta version of its Palore personalized information retrieval service. Among the company's new partners are the local services search sites East Bay Express, which serves 2.1 million people in the Berkeley, Oakland and the San Francisco Bay area, discount coupon site Restaurant.com, and Happy Cow, the leading vegetarian restaurant guide in the US.
SpearCast has developed an application that can insert information on a specific business or tradesman into the page that the surfer is currently viewing. When the mouse is moved over the name of the business, a bubble opens up containing all relevant information, such as rankings or reviews, from all the sites that the browser previously marked as being of interest to him/her. SpearCast's application saves users from having to revisit the sites in question in order to access information about the target business.
SpearCast was co-founded by CEO Hanan Lifshitz, former analyst at venture capital fund Sadot Venture Capital (now Inspire Investment Ltd. (TASE:INSP), and president Erez Cochva, former manager at HyperBanner. The company has so far received investment from Meytav, the Chief Scientist, Advanta Corp., and group of private investors from Silicon Valley.
