InspireMD Ltd. has received orders worth $1.5 million for its MGuard stents ahead of the product’s launch. The orders were placed by hospitals in Latin America and Europe.
MGuard is a proprietary stent that protects against embolic showers, and is suitable for coronary, carotid, peripheral and renal arteries. The stent is integrated with an expandable, fishnet style, micron level knit sleeve that wraps the stent and blocks plaque from detaching, providing protection during and post procedure.
InspireMD VP sales and marketing Dr. Joshua Reichert said, “We’ve received orders for thousands of stents before we’ve even launched the product. We’re getting enthusiastic feedback from cardiologists all over the world.”
The company conducted clinical trials of the stents on 25 patients at two medical centers in Germany. The implant procedure is the same as for current stents.
InspireMD expects to obtain EU CE Mark certification for MGuard during the present quarter, and expects US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval within two years.
