Year’s highest rated show is on Channel 2

Channel 10 shows biggest jump in view share in Hebrew.

Channel 1 continued to lose market share this year, while Channel 10 is gaining share, and Channel 2 is stable, or even slightly up, especially during summer compared with summer 2006. The summary for Jewish Year 5757 (September 2006-September 2007) shows that the average primetime (8-11 pm) rating for Channel 2 was 19.9% among Jewish households, compared with 19.3% during the previous year.

Channel 10 increased its average primetime rating by 17% to 8.3% in 5757 from 7.1% in 5756, Channel 1 saw its average primetime rating fall by more than 20% to 5.5%, continuing its downward trend of several years.

The rating for Channel 10’s weekday news program rose to 10.5% in 5757 from 10% the year before. The rating for Channel 1’s weekday news program “Mabat” fell to 7.6% from 9.9%, and the rating for Channel 2’s weekday news program fell to 19.9% from 21.6%.

Channel 2’s flagship variety show “Eretz Nehederet” (Wonderful Country) was the top-rated show with an average rating of 30.2% among Jewish households, with an average viewing audience of 840,000, not including highlights, reruns, and specials. Channel 2 programs were the top five rated shows. “Kohav Nolad 5 (“A Star is Born” - the Israeli version of American Idol) was in second place, with an average rating of 29.6%; followed by “Uri Geller seeks the heir”, with 29.2%; “Merhak Negia” (“Stone’s Throw”), with 28.9%; and “Nolad Lirkod 2” (“Born to Dance”), with 27.2%.
