The Bio-Light portfolio firm will continue work on its obesity drug, Histalean.
Bio-Light Israeli Life Sciences Investments Ltd. (TASE:BOLT) portfolio company OBEcure Ltd. will channel all resources to two applications for its obesity drug Histalean (OBE101): the prevention of obesity in women under 50, and in patients taking antipsychotic drugs.
The company is foregoing a project, which was in the early stages, to test the drug’s effect on fat profiles in the blood (cholesterol levels and so forth) among people are not grossly obese. A clinical trial in Israel for this purpose will be halted.
Last month, OBEcure reported that preliminary analysis of a clinical trial for OBE101 showed no statistically significant results for preventing obesity. Bio-light’s share lost 34% on the news. However, further analysis of the trial’s results showed that the drug did provide statistically significant results in women under 50 who where not of Hispanic descent.
