D&B Israel sees increased competition in cosmetics

Super Pharm could lose its no. 1 position to New Hamasbir Lazarchan-New Pharm.

Israel’s cosmetics market totals NIS 1.7 billion a year, a figure that does not include duty-free sales, according to a new study by Dun & Bradstreet Israel. The company predicts that the cosmetics market will grow by 5-7% a year in the coming years and pass the NIS 2 billion threshold within three years.

Drugstore chain Super-Pharm Ltd. controls a third of the cosmetics market, with about NIS 600 million in annual sales. New Hamashbir Lazarchan Ltd. (TASE:MSZB), through its new controlling interests in New Pharm Drugstores Ltd., will likely have a 25% share of the market when the takeover is completed, with the addition of New Pharm’s NIS 150 million in annual cosmetics sales.

D&B Israel predicts that Super-Pharm will lose its lead position in the cosmetics market following Hamashbir’s takeover of New Pharm.
