The cable TV operator will begin airing US HD channel VOOM next year.
Cable television provider Hot Cable Systems Media Ltd. (TASE: HOT) is set to launch High Definition (HD) television broadcasts. The company announced at the Rosh Pina Television and Film Festival that it has signed an agreement with Ella Communications Ltd. for the airing beginning next year of US-based HD channel VOOM. HOT and its rival, satellite television operator YES have been gearing up for the launch of HD broadcasts over the last year, with the two companies now in a race to be the first to launch the new service.
VOOM produces and broadcasts selected content from 15 original HD leisure and entertainment channels. HOT will air the channel 24 hours a day, seven days a week, initially in English with Hebrew subtitles to follow at a later stage.
HOT's VP content Karni Ziv said, "We're now in the process of putting together a package of HD content which will be available to viewers as soon as the service goes live next year."
