"Hamodia" to launch French edition

The haredi newspaper will be distributed weekly overseas and to French-speaking communities in Israel.

Haredi (ultra orthodox) daily "Hamodia" is set to launch a weekly edition in French, with an initial circulation of 15,000. The 64-page edition in French will be divided equally between news and current affairs, and feature articles. The paper expects circulation will increase to 30,000 copies within three years, most of which will be sold to subscribers.

"Hamodia" said it would invest NIS 1 million in the new weekly edition, which will be on sale at 350 vendors in Paris, Marseilles, Lyon and Strasbourg. It will be also distributed in residential areas in Israel that are home to French immigrants and speakers.
