Mazda selects Israel for new 6 launch

The Mazda 6 has been the top-selling large family car over the past decade.

Mazda Motor Corporation (TSE:7261) importer Delek Automotive Systems Ltd. (TASE: DLEA) is launching the new 6 model in Israel today. The car is considered the company's strategic model, with the highest sales among value use category 4 large family cars over the past decade.

A few weeks ago, Mazda selected Israel has the first launch market for the new Mazda 6, even ahead of Japan. The new model is 6.5 centimeters longer, 1.5 centimeters wider, and 5 centimeters higher than its predecessor. The chassis has also been extended by five centimeters.

Delek Auto will market two body versions of the Mazda 6: a four-door sedan and five-door hatchback. Each version will have an option of two engine sizes: two liter and 2.5 liter. The versions will have varying levels of finishing. The basic version, called "Executive", will be a two-liter, 147-horsepower vehicle, priced at NIS 151,000. The basic upgraded sedan version will cost NIS 155,000 and the upgraded hatchback version will cost NIS 158,000.

The 2.5-liter, 170-horsepower car will cost NIS 176,000 for the sedan version and NIS 179,000 for the hatchback version. Accessories include leather seats, two electric front seats, and a sun roof. All versions, including those for company car fleets, have six airbags and electronic braking systems.
