Kallpa Generacion has bought a second gas turbine and an option on a third.

Israel Corp. (TASE: ILCO) Peruvian sub-subsidiary Kallpa Generacion SA has bought a second 192-megawatt open cycle gas turbine from Siemens AG (NYSE:SI; XETRA:SIE) subsidiary Siemens Power Generation. The contract to serve as the chief contractor for the engineering work, construction and maintenance of this turbine is $90 million.

The new gas turbine is for Kallpa's power station, and is due to begin operating in mid-2009. Kallpa has an option to buy a third gas turbine of the same size from Siemens, which, if installed, will begin operating in 2010.

Israel Corp. owns Kallpa through Inkia Energy Ltd. Inkia and a Peruvian bank will jointly finance the cost of the turbine.
