Aladdin Knowledge Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ALDN; TASE: ALDN) has announced two contracts for its USB-based eToken authentication solution in the US. One is with Continental Airlines Inc. (NYSE: CAL) and the other with Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB), Oregon's largest public utility. The company did not disclose the size of either contract.
EWEB will use eToken to provide strong authentication for employees who access the utility's data network. Aladdin added that eToken is set to play an important role in ensuring compliance with security standards mandated by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).
Continental Airlines, the world's fifth largest airline, has implemented the Aladdin eToken strong authentication solution to assist it in meeting the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), an industry-defined set of rules that regulate cardholder data handling and transaction processing. Aladdin supplied more than 1,000 eToken devices to the airline.
Aladdin VP of strategic development Chen Arbel said, "Aladdin eToken repeatedly proves to be a solid answer to the PCI DSS requirements that so many merchants face."
Aladdin added that EWEB has been strengthening its security in view of growing concerns about the security of US electricity and water providers. EWEB will begin using eToken during the second quarter of 2008.
Aladdin North America general manager John Gunn said, "Helping to protect vital services such as water and power, Aladdin eToken has proven itself as a highly reliable protection tool that withstands rigorous testing for security, dependability and longevity."
Aladdin rose 0.8% in after-hours trading on Nasdaq and fell 1.4% in morning trading on the TASE. The company has a market cap of $359 million.
