ACS is the largest building company in Spain and the third largest infrastructure company in Europe.
Infrastructure tenders in Israel are attracting increasing interest overseas. Sources inform ''Globes'' that Spanish infrastructure giant ACS Group SA is likely to bid in the $300 million road maintenance tender recently published by Israel National Roads Company Ltd.. ACS is also considering bidding in further tenders worth hundreds of millions of shekels.
A delegation from ACS recently met officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport to discuss its participation in BOT projects in the roads, railways, ports and infrastructure sectors. ACS is the largest construction company in Spain and the third largest infrastructure company in Europe. It will bid in the National Road tender through its road maintenance subsidiary Aplicacion De Pinturas API SA.
ACS was active in infrastructure projects in Israel in the past through Dragados, which was a partner with Ashtrom Properties Ltd. (TASE:ASPR), in the consortium which built the Jubilee Port in Ashdod. Although the project ran into difficulty and has become the subject of lawsuits, ACS apparently still intends to expand its investments in Israel.
