Benchmark invests in Israeli toolbar service provider Conduit

Conduit's customers include Fox News, Lufthansa, and Greenpeace.

Benchmark Capital has invested $8 million in Israeli toolbar service provider Conduit Ltd. Following the investment, the company has begun hiring for its R&D center at the Weizmann Science Park in Rehovot.

The company provides web publisher syndication solutions that increase traffic, revenue and brand loyalty. The company's community toolbars enable website owners to distribute the site's content and create links between visitors to the site. The system enables website owners to create their own toolbar and to syndicate content, such as customized information, RSS, e-mail, and so forth.

Conduit currently provides services to more than 140,000 websites, including Fox News, Lufthansa, Greenpeace, Techcrunch, and Softronic.

Benchmark's investments include eBay Inc. (Nasdaq: EBAY), Shopping.com. Juniper Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), MySQL,and Red Hat Inc. (NYSE:RHT).
