Sources inform ''Globes'' that there has been further progress on the merger talks between Deloitte Brightman Almagor and Zohar, Zohar & Co. Certified Public Accountants (Isr.). Both accountancy firms declined to comment on the report.
"Globes" recently reported that the two firms had begun talks on a merger. The firms said at the time that they "had been working together for several years and had mutual customers, but it is still a long way from this to a merger."
Brightman Almagor is a group member of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, one of the "Big Four" accountancy firms. Its chairman is Igal Brightman and its managing partner is Ilan Birenfeld. Among its former associates are Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) chairman Motti Friedman, and Israel Phoenix Assurance CEO Yali Sheffi.
Zohar, Zohar is of the 10 largest accountancy firms in Israel, and represents diamond industry clients. It was founded by Aharon Zohar, who continues to manage the office today. His brother is Israel Discount Bank chairman Shlomo Zohar, who was also a partner in the firm and sold his share on taking up his post at the bank.
