JDate goes French

The online dating service turns to the world's third-largest Jewish community.

JDate has launched an online service for the world's Francophone Jewish communities - JDate France. The new site is targeting the world's third-largest Jewish community, numbering 800,000 persons in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Monaco, and in Israel.

JDate France is initially operating for free, but after its launch in Paris in March, it will switch to the for-pay model JDate uses in Israel and the US. Rates will depend on the services package that the subscriber picks.

JDate France manager Yael Hassid estimates the French-speaking Jewish singles market at a quarter of the community, or about 200,000 persons.
