ECI widens deal with Russian telecom co

Syntera has a network spread over 60,000 kilometers.

ECI Telecom Ltd. has signed a cooperative frame agreement with Russian telecommunications operator CJSC Synterra for delivery of the XDM and BroadGate Multi-Service Transport Platform (MSTP) solutions to support the carrier's 60,000 km-long network, one of the country's largest nationwide networks. The company's did not disclose the size of the contract, but it is reportedly worth $50 million.

ECI will establish an emergency stock warehouse for swift and seamless provisioning of packet-optical transport equipment to support Synterra's urgent deployment needs. The company will also offer ongoing technology seminars and updates to Synterra employees.

Synterra is an ECI customer. ECI has been active in the Russian market for 12 years as part of the company's focus on emerging markets.
