"Deutsche Welle" reports that Arison Holdings Ltd., owned by Shari Arison, will invest up to $500 million in infrastructures for the UEFA Euro 2012 national football championship, which Ukraine and Poland are co-hosting. During a meeting with Ukraine President Victor Yushchenko, Arison has signed term sheets.
"Deutsche Welle" says that projects related to the Euro 2012 would receive uniform permits for all cities where the matches will be held, in order to shorten bureaucratic procedures. During the meeting, Yushchenko expressed the hope that the investment in infrastructures would serve as a strong foundation for Arison's contribution to Ukraine's banking system as well, and would encourage other Israeli investors to invest in the country.
"Deutsche Welle" also reports that Scorpio Real Estate Ltd., a Benny Steinmetz Group company, planned to invest a total of $1 billion in four projects in Ukraine. The company plans to build a business park, similar to Israel's Airport City, near Kiev's Borispolya Airport. Scorpio real estate develops projects in Central and Eastern Europe.
Ukranian news agency "Yhiah" reports that Israeli developers are confident in Ukraine's real estate market and in the country's economy in general.
