Public cos in Israel stick with big accounting firms

The top five CPA firms audit 90% of Israel's public companies.

90% of Israeli public companies are audited by the country's top five accounting firms, according to the Duns & Bradstreet Israel list of 100 leading companies. The top-ranked accounting firm is Ernst & Young Israel - Kost Forer Gabbay & Kasierer, under chairman Ronen Barel, with 263 public company clients, amounting to 37% of all Israeli public companies.

KPMG Somekh Chaikin is in second place, with 107 public company clients, a 15% market share. Deloitte Brightman Almagor is in third place, with 99 public company clients. The firm's merger with Zohar, Zohar & Co., which has 15 public company clients, might affect the CPA rankings.

Kesselman & Kesselman - PricewaterhouseCooper Israel is in fourth place, auditing 98 public companies. BDO Ziv Haft is in fifth place, auditing 65 public companies, giving a market share of 6%, Fahn Kanne & Co. Grant Thornton is in sixth place, auditing 23 public companies, and Zohar, Zohar & Co. is in seventh place. Amit Halfon CPA audits 13 public companies, Baker Tilly Oren Horowitz & Co. audits ten public companies, and Lion Orlitzky & Co. Moore Stephens Israel audits seven public companies.

The top two CPA firms, Kost Forer Gabbay & Kasierer and Somekh Chaikin also lead the rankings in terms of the number of accountants employed, at 474 accountants and 454 accountants, respectively.
