Alma Lasers gets FDA nod for new device

The firm's Harmony XL can be adapted for several applications.

Alma Lasers Ltd. has obtained US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for its Harmony XL modular platform for aesthetic and light treatments. The device uses ten different energy technologies, including lasers, visible light, infrared, radio waves, and ultrasound. The company says that the device can treat more than 60 medical problems, including acne removal, skin rejuvenation, hair removal, stress lines, tattoo removal, varicose veins concealment, and stretching of the skin.

This range of applications is made possible by the different technologies, using different heads and software protocols that control the energy delivered for different treatments. Alma Lasers already has FDA approval for its Accent device for the removal of wrinkles.

TA Associates owns 73% of Alma Lasers.
