BlogTV in second AOL deal

A new version of AOL's instant messenger includes a BlogTV plug-in.

BlogTV Ltd., a venture that enables people browsing the Internet to broadcast themselves live, is extending its relationship with US media giant AOL. The company said yesterday that it would be adding a further BlogTV plug-in to its instant messaging software AIM, as part of the launch of a new version AIM with modules included.

AOL has launched, among others, a search module for direct access to instant messaging content, comprising radio stations for immediate listening. BlogTV's plug-in enables viewing and broadcasting of live programs online. This is BlogTV's second collaboration with AOL this year. In January the company signed a collaboration agreement with AOL's search engine and messaging portal ICQ, under which the two will jointly operate a site in Russia.

Despite these collaborations, BlogTV has yet to generate any revenue for its parent Tapuz People Ltd. (TASE:TPUZ). The latter posted a net loss of NIS 1.4 million in the first quarter of 2008, compared with a net profit of NIS 2.6 million in the first quarter of 2007, much of which is attributed the high operating costs arising from the running of the BlogTV venture.
