The engineering firm is part of a consortium that will redevelop Gaz de France underground storage facilities.
Benny Steinmetz Group Resources Ltd. (BSGR) subsidiary Bateman Litwin NV (AIM:BNLN) subsidiary Litwin SA has won an engineering construction and procurement Gaz de France SA (Euronext: GAZ) contract for the redevelopment of an underground gas storage facility, including gas compression and treatment in Beynes, France. Bateman Litwin is part of a consortium that won the €143 million contract; its share is €75 million. The project is due to be completed by 2011.
The other consortium members are industrial equipment manufacturer Boccard and Vinci Energies unit Actemium, which designs and implements solutions for modernizing and improving the capacities of industrial sites, encompassing electricity, data processing, instrumentation and mechanical solutions. Bateman Litwin, Boccard and Actemium have all previously worked for the Gaz de France Group on other projects.
The contract is part of a major investment program by Gaz de France to comply with EU regulations to restore, adapt and develop its natural gas underground storage sites. Gaz de France operates 12 natural gas storage sites in France and the Beynes site was the first in operation in 1956.
