New, improved La Guardia exit to open

The NIS 150 million project was called the most complicated infrastructure project carried out in greater Tel Aviv in recent years.

The new La Guardia exit on the Ayalon Highway (road no. 20) in Tel Aviv will open tomorrow, after more than two years of work. Ayalon Highways Ltd. said that the NIS 150 million project was the most complicated infrastructure project carried out in greater Tel Aviv in recent years.

The La Guardia exit project included building an underpass underneath the La Guardia Street-Hamasger Street junction, giving direct access from La Guardia Street to Rakevet Street and downtown Tel Aviv. There will also be a direct access lane from Rakevet Street to the Ayalon Highway South. There will be no traffic light at Hamasger Street. The La Guardia overpass was widened to two lines in each direction, and new bicycle paths and sidewalks were added. The infrastructures under the roads were also rebuilt.

The contractor was Malrag - Engineering and Construction Ltd. (TASE:MLRG) and the project supervisor was Eldad Spivak Engineering Ltd.

100,000 vehicles use the La Guardia exit every day, including large number of buses, because of its proximity to the Tel Aviv Central Bus Station.
