The surge in construction inputs prices and higher demand is giving a boost to the industry. Dun and Bradstreet Israel reports that the top ten companies in the industry posted an aggregate NIS 6.3 billion revenue in 2007, 24% more than in 2006.
Top ranked Nesher Cement Industries Ltd., defined as a monopoly in its sector, posted NIS 1.38 billion revenue in 2007, 7.3% more than in 2006. The company is the 42nd largest manufacturer in Israel and has 515 employees. IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. (TASE:IDBH) owns Nesher through Clal Industries and Investments Ltd. (TASE: CII).
Second placed Readymix Concrete Products Ltd. posted NIS 1.26 billion revenue in 2007, 11.2% more than in 2006. The company has 922 employees. Ytong Industries Ltd. (TASE: YPYP) is in third place with NIS 757 million revenue, 9.3% more than in 2006. The company is number one in the industry in terms of the number of employees - 1,004.
Fourth placed Hanson (Israel) Ltd., owned by Heidelberg Cement, had the greatest revenue growth in 2007 - 26% to NIS 687 million. The company has 543 employees. Fifth place Caesar - Stone Sdot Yam Ltd. achieved 25.4% revenue growth to NIS 545 million.
