Technology developed by Netanya-based MiniFrame will be implemented at the Nigerian Navy training school.
MiniFrame has developed software which allows one computer to be used simultaneously by up to eight independent users. The individual computer users only need a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
MiniFrame's multi-user computing solution, SoftXpand, will be adopted by the Nigerian Navy, as part of the navy's effort to increase computer accessibility to personnel at reduced cost.
Twenty SoftXpand workstations have already been installed on a trial basis at the Nigerian Navy School of Health Sciences, Offa in Kwara State. The program is now expanding to include 100 SoftXpand PC workstations throughout various bases nationwide.
Commanding Officer of the Offa naval base Captain AK Elujoba commented, “SoftXpand’s performance as the ‘next generation PC’ has taken computer and internet services to a higher level and is in step with our goals at the training center." Elujoba added, "What is more, it is very economical in terms of money and space as few CPUs are required to service several stations!”
Intermel, an IT solutions company in the region and one of MiniFrame’s resellers in Nigeria, will be responsible for the complete delivery and management of SoftXpand’s integration into the naval system.
In addition, Nigeria's National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), a governmental agency for promoting national development through IT resources, has recommended SoftXpand to be implemented in rural internet resource centers throughout the country.
