The tender is launched two weeks after another major transport infrastructure tender.
Haifa Municipality infrastructure arm Yefe Nof Transport Infrastructure & Construction Ltd. today published a pre-qualification document for the tender it plans to issue for the building of a cable car service between Haifa Bay and the Technion Israel Institute of Technology and Haifa University at an estimated investment of NIS 180-200 million. The new tender comes two weeks after Yefe Nof published the tender for the building of the electric bus system Metronit.
The cable car will run 4.4 kilometers and rise to an altitude of 460 meters. It aims to carry up to 2,500 passengers an hour. The cable car project is being supported by the Ministry of Transport and will be jointly managed by Yefe Nof, which will responsible for the design and construction, and the Haifa Economic Development Corporation. The tender to select the contractor will be held once the pre-qualification stage to screen suitable international companies has been completed.
The process will be based on a standard specification document for selecting cable car manufacturers, designed to verify which companies would be eligible to bid for a contract. The main criteria used in assessing bidders are experience, production capacity, production and assembly skills, quality of service and financial stability.
